Marywood University is an independent, comprehensive, coeducational Catholic university with a tradition of academic excellence and a strong track record of career and job placement. Marywood students choose from an assortment of majors, minors, concentrations and tracks. Noted for small classes and exceptional faculty, Marywood hosts over 80 student groups, activities, campus media organizations, honor societies, 14 intercollegiate athletic teams, numerous club sports, and intramural activities.

Marywood University is a four-year, private Catholic liberal arts university founded in 1915.

Mission

Scranton, Pennsylvania. Marywood’s suburban campus is located in the heart of Scranton, PA and 120 miles west of New York City.

Student Profile
1,867 students (23% male, 77% female). 80% of students are from Pennsylvania. 7% minority; (1% American Indian; 1% Asian; 2% African American; 86% Caucasian; 3% Latino), 1% international. 

73% first-year student retention rate and 65% average graduation rate.

Faculty Profile
134 full-time undergraduate professors. 12:1 student-faculty ratio. Average class size of 14.

Athletics
NCAA Division III, Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, 14 varsity sports (6 men’s; baseball, basketball, cross-country, lacrosse, soccer and tennis; 8 women’s; basketball, cross-country, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball). 9 club sports and 26 intramural sports.

Cost and Aid
2007-2008 $36,600 comprehensive ($23,040 tuition). In 2006, 100% of incoming first-year students with demonstrated need received some financial aid. Average Award Package is $17,212.
