Fast Facts

Founded by the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters in 1901, Dominican University prides itself on being both academically rigorous and committed to social justice and diversity. To this end, the university seeks to embody its motto of Caritas et Veritas (“truth and compassion”) through its strategic plan, which identifies six specific ways — including supporting underserved students — by which it will ensure diversity on campus. A Dominican education combines study in the liberal arts and professional preparation. Students are encouraged to prepare for their future careers through internships and leadership in campus organizations, as well taking advantage of nearby Chicago, which is easily accessible by public transportation.

Dominican University is a distinctively relationship-centered educational community, rooted in the liberal arts and sciences and comprehensive in scope. It is known for the care and respect with which it mentors students.  Dominican graduates stand ready not just to succeed in the world of commerce, but in the larger pursuit of humanity.

Dominican University is a private, comprehensive co-ed college, founded in 1901. Dominican provides strong career preparation, grounded in the liberal arts.
