Fast Facts

Williams offers the best in a college education. With a committed and accomplished faculty, more than 30 majors, exciting events and student groups and a breathtaking campus, Williams College is a highly ranked liberal arts school regarded as one of the finest in the country. When visiting in 1844, Henry David Thoreau remarked, β€œIt would be no small advantage if every college were thus located at the base of a mountain.” Williams, resting in the Berkshires in northwestern Massachusetts, at the foot of Mount Greylock, is a small college with a far-reaching name. Respected and revered by academia, this co-educational school, founded in 1793, has produced 37 Rhodes Scholars, more than any other liberal arts college in the country.
