Fast Facts
As a Jesuit, Catholic university, Santa Clara seeks to provide students with both a strong academic experience, and one that underscores the importance of ethics and justice. To this end, the university offers a myriad of service opportunities for students through the Santa Clara Community Action Program, a clearinghouse for service endeavors and other student programs. The university also houses the Arrupe Center, which serves the marginalized and poor, and the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, which is one of the most prominent forums for discussion and research on the topic of ethics nationwide. The Center for Science, Technology and Society also promotes the common good of society by providing an independent forum for public dialogue and interdisciplinary inquiry into the social and cultural dimensions of technological change in today’s society.
