Fast Facts
Co-founded by a Baptist minister and a Texas blacksmith, Howard Payne University retains much of the principles upon which it was founded in 1889. A Christian, co-educational school, Howard Payne is located in Brownwood, Texas, a close-knit town of 20,000 residents who embrace the university’s students. Howard Payne offers more than 50 majors, minors and pre-professional programs offered throughout its six schools. Howard Payne University is at the forefront of leadership development and encourages students to incorporate such activities into their academic life. As an example, S.W.A.R.M. Day (Serving With A Right Motive) is an annual campus event that provides opportunities for students to volunteer for community service projects.
