An independent, liberal-arts school in the Catholic tradition, St. John Fisher College prides itself on its strong liberal-arts curriculum and its emphasis on community. To this end, the school maintains involvement in the city of Rochester, and, through its Office of Multicultural Affairs and Diversity Programs, boasts a number of diversity initiatives. The college offers 31 academic majors in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, business and nursing, as well as 10 pre-professional programs. Fisher also offers 13 graduate programs, including two doctoral programs. Of note, the college offers a unique minor in Peace and Social Justice Studies. Through this program, students take cross-disciplinary coursework that focuses on areas like conflict resolution, poverty and race relations
