Misericordia University was founded in 1924 as a private, Catholic liberal arts school.
 
Mission
Misericordia University provides a quality education through the tenants of mercy, service, justice, and hospitality—charisms set forth by the school’s founders, the Sisters of Mercy.  The university has been guided by these principles for more than 81 years.  The University’s slogan, “More than an Education,” defines Misericordia University's ability to provide quality academic programs that prepare students for rewarding careers and a desire to lead in service to others.

Dallas, Pennsylvania; 26 miles west of Scranton, 10 miles west of Wilkes-Barre, and 132 miles west of New York City.
