Fast Facts
Duke is among the most community-oriented of the nation's major universities. 6,400 of Duke's students are undergraduates -- 5,300 in Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and 1,100 in the Pratt School of Engineering. Duke offers students a rigorous academic program combined with exceptional flexibility in course selection and degree programs. Duke believes strongly that a student's financial resources should not be a barrier to enrollment. For U.S. citizens and permanent residents, a family's ability to pay is not considered in the admissions decision. Nearly half of Duke's undergraduates receive financial assistance. from orientation onward, a sense of belonging and school spirit permeate the Duke campus. This is evidence in the collaboration between faculty and students, and between campus and the local Durham community. Located between Atlanta and Washington, D.C., Durham is a city of 240,000 with vibrant research, medical and cultural communities.
